Working here, at a glance

How it works

There is nothing to sign up for. Homadic is a café first, so you come in, order at the counter, pick a table and work. Stay for the second cup. If you plan to spend the whole morning, ordering something every couple of hours is how the café stays open and the coffee stays good. Calls are fine with headphones; we only ask that you take long ones outside or keep the volume low, because there are kids around.

Who works from here

Remote workers who live in Caldas da Rainha or along the Silver Coast, digital nomads on a longer stay in Portugal, parents who drop the kids at Colégio Rainha D. Leonor two minutes away and open the laptop before the day starts, and students. Homadic was founded by a digital nomad and mother of two, so this mix is the point, not an accident.

Staying in Caldas da Rainha

Caldas da Rainha is about an hour north of Lisbon, with a daily fruit market, an arts school and the beaches of Foz do Arelho and São Martinho do Porto nearby. If you are considering a longer stay, we are preparing short, medium and long-term stays close to the café; see the stay page. Hours, address and parking are on the visit page.

Good to know

Questions we often get.

Is the Wi-Fi free?

Yes. Ask the team for the password when you order.

Are there power outlets?

Yes, at the tables, within reach of most seats. Bring your charger.

Do I need to book a desk or pay a membership?

No. Homadic is a café: order something and sit where you like. For a group or a meeting, send us a WhatsApp first so we can keep a table together.

Can I take video calls at the café?

Yes, with headphones and at a normal volume. For long calls we ask you to step outside: there are families and kids in the room.

When is the café quietest for working?

Weekday mornings after the school run, roughly 9:30 to 12:00, and early afternoons. Weekend mornings are family time with a nanny in the café and are livelier.

Is Homadic a good base for digital nomads in Caldas da Rainha?

Yes. We speak English and Portuguese, many of our regulars work remotely, and we are preparing short, medium and long-term stays near the café.
